Paris Ka-Ching

I know Paris has always been expensive, but OMFG post Covid it’s gone next level insane. It’s even making London look like a bargain. Breakfast and Lunch today, close to $150 for the three of us, and we didn’t have a ton of food / eat at high end establishments, just run of the mill Paris cafes.

The food was awesome…. But hey, it’s France… that’s expected.

Most odd thing was my coffee cost more than a crepe.

Fark! An AUD12 coffee peeps !

Culinary Ground Zero

If you are a foodie / love cooking, this is a MUST SEE shop in Paris. It’s culinary ground zero for cooking utensils. It’s been in operation for over 200 years.

Shakespeare and the French

Its got to be one of the worlds greatest ironies that the best English language bookshop in the world is in the absolute centre of the Francophile world. If they can’t work out why Napoleon is spinning in his casket over at Les Invalides, this is probably why. Every time I’m in Paris we walk away with a book or dozen from here. Make sure you visit this.

Bonjour Paris !

We have arrived in Paris, taxi picked us up exactly on time from the apartment in Barcelona (I need not have worried). Train went smoothly although someone at Barcelona tried to scam their way onto the train without a ticket saying they were part of our group, I quickly shut that down!

The train was smooth, quick, lots of great French countryside to see and arrived in Paris right on time. Annnd welcome to Paris! Ka-Ching!! Spain this is not… taxi from Gare De Lyon to the apartment (5km)… €76 ouch!!! Anywhere in Spain that would have been about €8. “Tourist Tax” on top of what we have already paid for the apartment …. €80. I’ve not even been in the city an hour and I’ve already dusted $300.

Sharon and Emma are off to the Moulin Rouge tonight as we just grabbed a quick dinner at a lovely traditional French Bistro around the corner.

French Baguette

On the train to Paris. You know when you cross the border, a baguette magically appears in your hand and €25 disappears from your wallet

Oo la la !
